SOME PROJECT FINDINGS
•The ocelot effect: proposition of a new ecological theory, which is the dominant effect of the mid-sized predator, the ocelot, as the main influence in the dynamics of the Neotropical smaller felid guild. Link to Publication
•Density, abundance estimates of all small and medium-sized species, most of which are the first densities obtained worldwide that have been paramount for conservation actions. Link to Publication
•Demystification of a number of myths about the geographic distribution of the northern tiger cat (Leopardus tigrinus), as well as the discovery of new populations of Pampas Cat (Leopardus colocola), margay (Leopardus wiedii), ocelot (Leopardus pardalis) in areas distant from their known area of occurrence.
•Discovery of a unique evolutionary process in the world that also demonstrated the existence of not only one, but two species of what was known as the little spotted cat (Leopardus tigrinus): L. tigrinus and L. guttulus Link to Publication
•Discovery of a new species of hemoparasite for Neotropical felids. Link to Publication
