The case of the crab-eating fox (Cerdocyon thous)

Wild Cats Brazil is also gathering data on the species that share the same habitat with the cats. We just managed to estimate the very first population density of crab-eating foxes (Cerdocyon thous) in Mirador State Park through spatially explicit capture recapture models! These models have been widely used in spotted felids for the last decade or so, but their use in canid studies is still very limited. This pioneering study will be the thesis subject of Diogo G. Silva's Masters Degree.
